Dear Brother
I recently learnt about your planned strike on Mayday in opposition to
the continuing unjust war by the USA and UK alliance in Afghanistan and
Iraq. I have just learnt that there are plans by your employers to take
legal action against you and your proposed action.
In the light of this I send you solidarity greeting from the trade
unions of Liverpool. I know well of your tremendous support for the
Liverpool dockers during their long strike in the 1990s. Such support
is not easily forgotten in this city, where, despite the best efforts
of the bosses the fighting spirit of working class international
solidarity lives on.
If there is anything we can do to help you please contact me and I will
ensure that your requests are taken up in this city's labour movement.
I know that I speak for all of the officers and members of the
Liverpool Trades Union Council when I say we salute your courage and
your will to struggle. We sincerely hope your action is successful
despite the best efforts of the bosses to thwart it and we will
publicise your action as an inspiration to workers in our city so that
in the future they can follow your example.
Solidarity Forever
Msark Hoskisson
Secretary, Liverpool Trades Union Council
